Annual Awards Given Under 23 Categories at the City Palace

Jaipur, 22 October: The prestigious Annual Award Ceremony was held at the Pritam Niwas Courtyard of the City Palace recently on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of Brig. Late H.H. Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh, MVC of Jaipur. Each year the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust gives away awards in as many as 23 categories. The categories have a wide range from service to mankind to preservation of heritage; from medical science to excellence in traditional crafts, among others.  The awards consist of Rs. 31,000 cash, shawl, a replica of the silver urn placed at the Sarvatobhadra Chowk of the City Palace, citation and a shrifal.

The programme began with the arrival of the members of the Royal Family and the ‘Dharamgurus’ on the stage. The photograph of Shri Govind Dev Ji was then garlanded and the lighting of the lamp was done by the members of the Royal Family. Later, the late Maharaja’s photograph was also garlanded by them. Padmini Devi and Diya Kumari then made offerings to the ‘Dharamgurus’ and received their blessings.

The awards  given on the occasion were : Raja Dulha Rai Award for social services (Sudhir Mathur & Narendra Singh Baid); Raja Kakil Dev Award for Excellence in Architecture and Preservation of Heritage (INTACH Sawai Madhopur Chapter); Raja Pajwan Dev Award for Excellence in the field of Medicine (Dr. Samin K. Sharma); Raja Bhagwant Das Award for Excellence in Traditional Crafts (Abdul Kuddus); Raja Mansingh I Award for Bravery (Hina Qureshi); Mirza Raja Jai Singh I Award for distinguished service in the armed forces (Brig. Ajit Singh & Lt Col Kartik Datt); Mirza Raja Ram Singh Award for Excellence in Ecological Balance (Dharmendra Khandal); Maharaja Vishan Singh Award for Excellence in Travel, Tourism and Museum Development (Khalid Khan); Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II Award for Excellence in the field of Astronomy and related science (Prof. Vasudev Sharma); Maharaja Sawai Ishwari Singh Award for Excellence in the field of Journalism (Prerna Sahni); Maharaja Sawai Madho I Singh Award for Excellence in the field of Administration (Dr. Ashok Gupta); Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh Award for Excellence in the field of History, Literature and Education (Jaishree Periwal); Maharaja Sawai Jagat Singh Award for Excellence in Painting and Sculpture (Lakshman Vyas); Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II Award for Excellence in the field of Photography (Suman Sarkar) and Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II Award for Excellence in the field of T.V., Films and Theatre (Ashish Sharma).

Furthermore, other awards were given in the category of Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II Award for Excellence in the field of Sports (Sapna Poonia); Maharani Marudhar Kanwar Award for Trust Employee (Jitendra Singh Naruka and Dashrath Singh); Maharani Kishor Kanwar Award (Moinuddin Khan) for excellence in Performing Arts; Rajmata Gayatri Devi Award for Women’s Excellence (Rashmi Kuchhal); Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh Award for Excellence in the field of Business and Industry (Ram Babu Sarraf); HH Rajmata Padmini Devi Award for excellence in distinguished services (Mahavir Singh, Suresh Singh, Vijendra Singh, Urmila Sharma); Princess Diya Kumari Award for achiever in any field (Ranthambore School of Art) and Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh Award for excellence in the field of Polo (Bhawani Singh Kalvi).
