Deepika Padukone was in town to promote her upcoming period film, Bajirao Mastani. The actress attended a brief talk show, a Polo match and dined with the Royal family whilst in the city.
Talking about the movie, she called it one of the most challenging roles she has ever played. “It drained me physically, mentally and emotionally”, said the actress. Although taxing her character is relatable, especially to the modern woman of our era. “Every woman has a ‘Mastani’ in her! You just have to reach out to yourself. Just like my character is a warrior princess, today’s women are warriors and face battles every day. You’ll definitely relate to her”, said the lead.
When asked about her tryst with depression, she said, “It was a difficult time but I came out stronger and that is what matters! India falls in the list of the most depressed countries in the world, and that is nerve wracking! The same reason led me to Live Love Laugh. ‘Live Love Laugh’ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to mental health issues in India, initiated by Deepika.
She also interacted with the children at the event and shook a leg. “I promise to come back to Jaipur, hopefully for a longer stay next time. It was a pleasure being here”, were her parting words.
