Following the fiasco related to the Board results in Bihar, FIR has been reportedly filed against the accused students and Vaishali’s VR College. The step was initiated after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a grim view of the prevailing scenario. Nitish is said to be upset with the handling of the issue following the exposure.
FIR was filed by an official of the Education department against the accused that included Saurabh Sreshtha, Rahul, Ruby Rai and the Director of VR College in Vaishali District. The charges leveled against the accused include that of cheating and forgery.
The Board had earlier cancelled the result of Saurabh Sreshtha after he had failed to clear the retest. The Board had also cancelled the recognition of VR College.
The measure was taken subsequent to the retest which was conducted after two of the so – called ‘toppers’, Ruby Rai and Sourabh Sreshtha, were exposed on TV as not even possessing basic knowledge about their subjects.
While Ruby Rai claimed that her subject’s name was ‘Prodigal’ Science and that it was about cookery, Sourabh reportedly did not possess knowledge about the basics of Science, a stream in which he had topped.
The accused students had either failed the retest or refused to take it. While Ruby Rai failed to appear for the retest with her family member reportedly claiming that she was depressed, Sourabh reportedly failed to satisfactorily answer questions asked during the retest.
Chief Minister has claimed that investigation into the matter will be done and that the guilty won’t be spared.
These students had become the butt of jokes with people hitting out at the Bihar education system for the extremely sad state of affairs. However, time can tell whether a complete overhaul of the prevailing morass that education in Bihar finds itself in, is done or not.
