Jaipur-based Girnar Software, a leading internet company that owns and operates auto portals CarDekho, Gaadi.com and Zigwheels.com has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a round led by Google Capital, along with participation by existing investor Hillhouse Capital.
The fresh funding is believed to be utilized in further upgrading of technology, R&D and expansion within and outside India, adding more business lines and scaling up its existing sales force. The Rainmaker Group has been the exclusive financial advisor to Girnar Software for this transaction. The company has already established its presence overseas with the launch of CarBay.com in countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia. Girnar Software is eyeing to consolidate its position in India as well as growing economies in Asia and the Middle East.
“Google Capital is one of most respected growth equity investors in the world, and brings to us the resources and expertise from the one of the most valuable technology companies on the planet. Having them on our shareholder roster encourages us to keep raising the standard of our tech offerings as we create the premier automotive digital destination for the emerging markets,” said Amit Jain, the co-founder and CEO for Girnar Software.
In past few months many marquee investors like Sequoia Capital, HDFC Bank and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata have invested substantially in Girnar Software.
In recent times, Girnar Software has also emerged as one of the most aggressive M&A players among Indian start-ups. The company acquired Times Internet-backed ZigWheels last year.
