A shocking development, following the Bombay High Court’s verdict, a version of the yet to be officially released movie, Udta Punjab, is alleged to have been leaked online. The leaked version is reportedly the full length one of more than 2 hours which was submitted with the Certification Board or the CBFC.
The leaked version is also said to have the scene in which the movie’s character Tommy Singh is peeing. The Bombay High Court had asked for the deletion of this particular scene. Social media is abuzz with the rumour that this has happened after the Board was snubbed by the High Court and asked it to let the movie release with only one cut. It was earlier decided that there will be more than 80 deletions in the movie, something vehmently opposed by those involved in making it.
The film’s Producer, Anurag Kashyap, was involved in a bitter fight with CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani with the latter accused of being biased in his decision making. Anurag Kashyap had gone to the extent of acusing Nihalani of being dictatorial in his approach.
The Bombay High Court had asked for the movie to be released with just one cut, the one in which Tommy, a character played by Shahid Kapur, is peeing in the movie. The movie has to carry three diaclaimers.
The movie starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh is slated to be released on the 17th of June. However, a Punjab based NGO has approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the release of the movie.
The online leak even before the movie’s release can affect its box office prospects adversely.
