New avatar of S-Cross petrol comes with automatic option

NEXA commences pre-bookings for New S-Cross 1.5 Litre K-series petrol engine

Nexa has begun accepting bookings for the petrol-powered S-Cross. Customers can book the car at Nexa dealerships, against a payment of Rs 11,000.

Since the diesel engine was discontinued for BS6, Maruti will now offer the S-Cross solely with a petrol engine. The engine in question is the 105hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit that also does duty in the Ciaz sedan, Ertiga and Vitara Brezza. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, but for the first time, the S-Cross will also get an automatic gearbox option – a 4-speed torque converter.

The automatic will be offered on the higher three variants of the S-cross petrol, and there will be a total of four variants on offer – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Interestingly, only the automatic variants of the S-Cross are expected to come with Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology.

The old Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system will also be upgraded to the new and superior Smartplay Studio system which we’ve seen across Maruti Suzuki’s model range already.

The S-Cross petrol is set to launch on August 5, 2020. The launch was previously expected to take place this month, but it was pushed back.

Built on NEXA’s values of ‘Create. Inspire.’ S-Cross Petrol is equipped with best-in-class features, a power-packed engine and dominating design. The aggressive upright stance lends the S-Cross a rugged charm while the tasteful and classy interiors add to the user’s delight.

Tested at Maruti Suzuki’s world-class Rohtak R&D facility, the S-Cross Petrol is compliant with advanced safety norms including frontal offset crash, side impact and pedestrian safety.

Taking the legacy ahead, S-Cross Petrol is focused to create new benchmarks in terms of design, innovation and excellence in technology. The next generation dual battery Smart Hybrid technology with Li-ion battery aligns with the company’s commitment to offer a wide range of green vehicles. The S-Cross Petrol will further strengthen the company’s position in the premium urban SUV segment.
