Dhoad Group to Rock with World-renowned Rockstar Yarol Poupaud

Shilpgram's Muktakashi Manch will witness this unique offering for the first time in India.

In a cultural extravaganza, the renowned Dhoad Group, led by the world-famous artist Rahis Bharti, is set to captivate audiences at the Shilpgram Utsav in the West Zone Cultural Center, Udaipur. The ten-day festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture, promises to showcase mesmerizing performances, including a live concert with French rock star Yarol Poupaud.
Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra inaugurated the Shilpgram Utsav on December 21.
Having returned from an eight-month world tour, Rahis Bharti, a resident of Jaipur, is ready to enchant the audience with the international Dhoad Group. The group, having performed in 115 countries, not only bridges the gap between Indian folk culture and global art enthusiasts but also garners respect for Indian culture worldwide.
Rahis Bharti will perform for three days starting from December 28, which will witness the grand presentation by the International Jaipur Maharaja Brass Band, comprising around 45 artists.
Rahis Bharti said that pop and rock star Yarol Poupaud has accepted to come to India to perform and Indians will get a chance to witness his performance. Generally rock stars do not perform with traditional musicians and this is for the first time that the performance of rock & roll and traditional Rajasthani music group Dhoad Band is going to take place. This is the first visit of Yarol Poupaud to India.
Rahis Bharti and Yarol Poupaud will enthrall the audience on December 29 with their performances and on the concluding day of the festival on December 30, more than 250 artists from all over India will perform including 45 artists of Dhoad group and this show will be directed by Rahis Bharti and Yarol Poupaud along with Kritika Thakur from Portugal.
Rahis Bharti, who initiated Dhod Group 23 years ago in a small village of Rajasthan, has earned special recognition from the French government. Recently honoured at a prestigious music festival in France, Rahis Bharti has become a cultural ambassador of Rajasthan, having showcased nearly 700 artists from rural Rajasthan on international platforms. Expressing his focus on Rajasthan’s folk music, Rahis stated, “Our entire focus is on Rajasthan’s music, and that’s why we are recognized as the Cultural Ambassador of Rajasthan at the global level.”

The festival, hosted by the West Zone Cultural Center, Udaipur, will witness the Dhod Group presenting traditional Rajasthani folk songs such as ‘Kesariya Balam,’ ‘Bega Ghar Aao Balam,’ and ‘Aaoji Aao Dhod Pyaro Aaoji’ accompanied by instruments like tabla, dholak, kartal, and sarangi, blending seamlessly with rock music elements like drums and guitar.
It is to be mentioned that Yarol Poupaud, the rockstar singer and guitarist of France with Victor Mecanic base guitarists , singer and drummer Ludwig delhberg will perform with Dhoad Band. He has a passion to create a new sound with the rhythms of the world music.
Rahis Bharti sharing the Rajasthani music and performing with his band Dhoad to not only to give new opportunities to his artists to perform live on the international platforms, but also wanted to encounter the musicians around the world who enjoys Dhoad’s authentic Rajasthani music, and to meet the global artist who appreciate the raw beauty of it.
The audience at this programme will enjoy the musical magic mixed with Rajasthani and Rock.
