The corona crisis is increasing day by day in Rajasthan. Despite all measures being taken by the government, it is felt that until people get cautious and take measures, the pandemic will continue.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a high-level meeting on Saturday late evening took a decision to start a public movement on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 in which people will be made aware to prevent themselves and others from coronavirus. Messages will be given to mandatorily follow the rule of wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and to stay away from crowds. He feels that increasing corona crisis can be reined in only through a public movement.
Local Self Government department will be the nodal department of this awareness campaign in which health, education, youth affairs, police and other departments along with youth from organisations such as NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, Nehru Yuva Kendra, also the voluntary organisations and NGOs, social and community institutions, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly and other public representatives have been requested to join.
The movement will be conducted in the Gandhian way in which people will be persuaded to follow and make others follow the health protocols at the public places.
The corona cases are increasing day by day. Till date the state has witnessed more than 1.30 lakh positive cases including 2112 cases on Saturday and so far 1456 people have succumbed to this coronavirus including 15 on Saturday.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has increased the facilities in form of testing, treatment etc along with running an awareness campaign throughout the state through the health department. If all people start wearing masks then only the movement will mark success. People by wearing masks can save themselves and others from this virus, Gehlot added.
He said that people should vow to wear masks for a month and maintain a distance of six feet then only this campaign would become a public movement in real sense and people should carry this campaign ahead.
Gehlot said, “Such movement is the only alternative that can help in saving life looking to the fast spreading of corona infection and long term ill-effects of this virus even after recovering from it.”
