Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur officially launched its new tourism season today, following a three-month closure. The park’s gates have reopened to both domestic and international tourists, marking the commencement of this much-anticipated period.
The Chief Conservator of Forests for the Ranthambore Tiger Project, Anup K. R., inaugurated the new tourism season by waving a green flag to signal the departure of tourist vehicles from the main entrance at Ganesh Dham. Wildlife enthusiasts and several forest officials, including Wildlife Warden Pramod Dhakad and Ramanand Bhakar, were present to witness the event.
Alongside the launch of the new tourism season, Wildlife Week has also begun. Visitors were welcomed with ceremonial tilaks and garlands at the entrance before being sent off on their jungle excursions. The enthusiasm of the tourists was palpable, as the first vehicles were filled with eager explorers.
During the monsoon season, Ranthambore National Park is closed for three months each year. This year, the park was completely shut down during this period due to heavy rainfall, which caused damage to the jungle paths. The forest department has since repaired the routes, allowing for the commencement of the new tourism season.
However, entry into Zone 5 of the national park remains prohibited due to standing water and damaged tracks. This zone will remain closed until all repairs are fully completed. To celebrate the launch of Wildlife Week, school students were also given the opportunity to visit the national park in a canter today.
