Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that now Rajiv Gandhi Urban Olympic Games will be organised from January 26 to promote sports and sportspersons. The government took this decision enthused with the response received at Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games.
He said that the Rural Olympic Games have created the best sports environment for the players in Rajasthan. The sports talents in the villages got opportunities in Rural Olympic Games that they will be able to establish the identity of their families, villages-hamlets, district and country at the international level.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the state level competition of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games at Sawai Man Singh stadium, Jaipur he assured the players that the state government would give all that is required for the players. He said this event has created a new history in the country and more than 30 lakh players from all age groups showed their skill in the playgrounds. Around 10 lakh women took part and proved themselves.
The state government is developing playgrounds, making available the resources and facilities and taking important decisions for the players, which has increased the confidence in the players and they are also secure about their future and this will make the state a top leader in sports, Gehlot added.
Besides this, the next budget will be dedicated to youth, sportspersons and students to promote the young generation of the country and state. He appealed to the people of the state to send suggestions for the budget
The Chief Minister said, “The dream of Healthy Rajasthan that we had seen is being realized from the playgrounds. People have become stronger physically, mentally and socially through sports. Players showing the spirit of sportsmanship have given a message of love, brotherhood and communal harmony.”
He felicitated the winning teams (in the first three positions) and best players by giving trophies and mementoes. He also had a dialogue with the players on the stage.
World Book of Records, London handed over the certificate of world record to the chief minister in the function. The certificate was given to more than 30 lakh players taking part in Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games and for organising sports events at the same time in the entire state.
Youth affairs and sports minister Ashok Chandna said that many decisions were taken in the state including out-of-turn appointments to sportspersons, reservation in jobs and increasing the prize money of medal winners. The number of players is increasing in the state. He said that the future of the players is bright in the state.
Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games started on August 29, 2022, and continued for 1 month and 22 days and concluded on October 20, 2022.
