The corona cases in the State are consistently falling and vaccination of health personnel has also started from January 16, but still precautions have to be taken to remain safe from the coronavirus. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, “We have to remain fully alert looking at the second wave of corona in few countries in the world including Europe. With health workers getting vaccinated, they will be able to face any kind of challenge with full confidence and can fulfill their responsibility in protecting people of the State from corona.”

He said it is really happy to note that no serious side effects in health workers who have been vaccinated with corona vaccine have been reported so far and health workers are also getting vaccinated with a lot of enthusiasm.

Gehlot has asked the officers to constantly aware people so that there are no myths about the vaccination. He has also directed to increase the vaccination sites as per requirement and complete the target in the scheduled time following the Government of India guidelines.

Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma said that the percentage of vaccination is low in some districts including Jaipur, Dausa and Sriganganagar. Holding a video conference, the concerned district collectors, chief medical and health officers and other officers of the health department will be directed to give pace to the vaccination.

Health secretary Siddharth Mahajan said that Rajasthan compared to the national average is leading in the vaccination. In the detailed assessment of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Rajasthan has performed better in all the standards of vaccination. He said that till January 27, more than 2.37 lakh health workers have been vaccinated in the State.

In regard to wastage of vaccines, Mahajan said that as per the Government of India guidelines there could be wastage of up to 10%, but in Rajasthan the wastage was only 4.28%.

Meanwhile, state government COVID Management Advisory Committee member, Rajasthan Hospital President and renowned pulmonologist Dr Virendra Singh said that vaccination is very important to fully protect from corona. Rajasthan Hospital Chairman and Indian Medical Association former president Dr SS Agarwal said that despite turning negative from corona positive, the vaccination is important to maintain sufficient antibodies in the body.

Both experts said that the vaccine is totally safe and does not have any side effects. They said that the second wave has come in other countries and a large number of people have been affected. In such a situation, before the second wave comes in India, all should get vaccinated.

They called the frontline corona warriors to get vaccinated at the earliest as per their turn and become safe so that in coming times, they are ready to treat and protect people. Dr Singh said that after 28 days of the first dose of vaccine, the second dose is administered and there will be sufficient antibodies after 15 days then only can remain safe from COVID-19 infection.

Dr Agarwal said, “Our country remained a leader in treatment by understanding the disease and in the same way is leading in vaccination. No other country except India has developed two vaccines and along with getting our people vaccinated, our country is sending vaccines to other countries to protect their citizens.”
