Five Decades of India’s Built Environment launched at JLF

Book on – “Five Decades of India’s Built Environment” authored by Dikshu Kukreja & Arunima Kukreja was launched at the Jaipur Literature Festival by H.E Hans Jacob Frydeulund, Ambassador of Norway. The event took place at the Durbar Hall, Hotel Clarks Amer.  Ambassador Jacob addressed the audience with the key speech about how the book has glorified the Indian culture & its architecture. He also highlighted the architect’s response to climate change and sustainability.  
The book launch was followed by a discussion between Sanjoy K. Roy, Director of Arts, and Ar. Dikshu Kukreja, Principal Architect, CP Kukreja Architects. Sanjoy discussed historical evolutions of Delhi city from 7 cities of Delhi to developments of south Delhi neighborhood and Gurgaon as an extension of Delhi. New towns in India and more particularly, Delhi’s expansion moved from the traditional approach to Dubai typologies. He goes on to discuss why the Indian education system does not include sensitivities towards our buildings from the basic education level itself rather than the introduction of Architecture at a professional level. Dikshu Kukreja talked about growing awareness amongst present clients for traditions and climate responsiveness. He mentioned that millennials and also at the government level are talking about tradition and functionality of design, which is a great sign. The present is the time generational shift in approach towards architecture.  
Arunima Kukreja, the Author, proudly discussed the outstanding transformation of the Indian cities & the contribution of CPKA in significant projects including Jawaharlal Lal University, Ambadeep Tower, Pathway School, Signature Tower, and many other projects. 
Forward to the discussion, Dikshu Kukreja, Founder of CPKA, said, “We are witnessing an awareness shift towards more Indianized designs in the present times. From Millennial to government, we all are talking about functionality & design, which is a great sign for the future”. 
The book flaunts the tremendous transformation of the architectural industry by incorporating Millennium styles, technologies, modern designs & urban sustainability to date. The book illustrates a classic collection of historic & contemporary reforms witnessed by the country’s design industry.
