Farmers on buying seeds may win tractors in a lucky draw

Farmers of Rajasthan on buying certified seeds may get a chance to win tractors along with other items in the lucky draw. Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation has launched Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Beej Uphar Yojana Rabi-2022-23.

Rajasthan State Seeds Corporation chairman Dheeraj Gurjar said that the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Beej Uphara Yojana Rabi 2022-23 has been launched to provide by the corporation with an objective to provide the farmers of the state with high quality improved seeds developed by the scientists in a large quantity and to increase the use of certified seeds. He said that high quality certified seeds are produced and are made available at the village level at a reasonable price. The corporation is producing seeds of moong, urad, gwar, soybean, groundnut, jwar and bajra in kharif crops and of wheat, chana, mustard and jau in rabi crops. 

Gurjar said that this scheme is being implemented in all the districts of the state and a total of Rs 4 crore is being spent. Elaborating further, he said that 51 farmers from each district will be provided gifts through a lottery. The first prize is Tractor (01), the second prize battery operated knapsack Sprayer Machines (20) and the third prize Kisan Torch (30). 

He said that this scheme would develop the interest of farmers to purchase certified seeds and using more certified seeds will result in increased production and more income. 

Meanwhile, there is no shortage of fertilisers in the state and they are being made available to the farmers as per their demand for the Rabi crops. So far in October, 1.67 lakh metric tonne urea and 1.09 lakh metric tonne DAP have been supplied. At present, 1.31 lakh metric tonne urea and 56,000 metric tonne DAP are available in the state, said agriculture commissioner Kanaram. 

He said that the Central Government has approved the demand of 14.50 lakh metric tonne urea and 4.50 lakh metric tonne DAP for the Rabi season. In October against the demand of 4.50 lakh metric tonne urea and 2 lakh metric tonne DAP, 1.67 lakh metric tonne urea and 1.09 lakh metric tonne DAP has been supplied and the remaining 2.83 lakh metric tonne urea and 91,000 metric tonne DAP is expected to be supplied. The farmers are being supplied fertilisers as per their demand therefore they should purchase as per their requirement and should not unnecessarily stock by purchasing fertilisers in advance. 

Kanaram said that during this year’s kharif season, the fertilisers were supplied as per the demand. Against the demand of 8.50 lakh metric tonne urea and 4.40 lakh metric tonne DAP, the farmers were supplied 8.92 lakh metric tonne urea and 4.94 lakh metric tonne DAP. 

He said that to ensure that the farmers get a regular supply of fertilisers, the state government is continuously taking action to prevent the black marketing of fertilisers and also keeping a check on the illegal sale of fertilisers and being sold for the use of non-agricultural purposes in the state. Kanaram said that teams formed at the level of agriculture commissionerate have been sent to the districts. The teams in September and October have taken action against various fertiliser sellers including 23 stop sales, 11 seizures, 11 licenses suspended, 1 license cancelled, 7 FIRs and 77 others. 

A state-level control room has been set up at the commissionerate to prevent black marketing and illegal selling of fertilisers, urea and DAP and farmers can register their complaints regarding black marketing, spurious fertilisers etc at the control room.
