In a year of remarkable achievements, the BJP-led government in Rajasthan, under the dynamic leadership of Bhajanlal Sharma, has successfully implemented key initiatives focused on economic growth, infrastructure, healthcare, and welfare schemes. With the steadfast support and guidance of the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state has seen significant strides in development, positioning itself as a leader in industry, agriculture, and social welfare. As the state celebrates the completion of one year in office, the government’s key achievements reflect a vision of balanced growth and prosperity for all.
Industry and Economic Development
In its first year, the Rajasthan government made substantial strides in boosting the state’s economy. One of the standout initiatives was the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, held in Jaipur, aimed at attracting global investors. Over just four months, the government organized 8 international, 2 national, and 8 departmental pre-summits. Notably, investor meetings were held across 50 districts, engaging local investors and promoting regional growth.
The Rising Rajasthan Summit saw MoUs worth an impressive ₹35 lakh crores being signed, indicating the growing investor confidence in Rajasthan. With the ambitious goal of turning Rajasthan into a $350 billion economy within the next five years, the state government allocated a significant 65% increase in capital expenditure this year.
In addition, several policies were announced, including the One District-One Product Policy, the New Mineral Policy, and the Rajasthan Tourism Unit Policy, to promote sustainable development. The government also signed agreements for renewable energy projects totaling 31,843 MW, with investments amounting to ₹1.6 lakh crore.
Panch Gaurav Initiative
The state government expanded the concept of One District, One Product by introducing the Panch Gaurav program. This initiative focuses on developing five key elements in each district: one crop, one variety, one product, one tourist destination, and one sport. These elements will be promoted as the Panch Gaurav to ensure the holistic development of every district.
Road Infrastructure Development
The government has prioritized road development with ₹14,679 crore spent on expanding and maintaining road networks. A total of 20,470 kilometers of roads have been improved, including 3,568 kilometers of state highways and 7,727 kilometers of rural roads. Additionally, plans for 9 greenfield expressways, totaling 2,750 kilometers, are underway, with the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) being prepared.
Healthcare and Health Services
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, healthcare has seen several advancements, particularly with the launch of the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, integrating the central Ayushman Bharat scheme. The government introduced 73 day-care packages for serious illnesses and provided cashless treatment to over 8 lakh senior citizens. In addition, five new medical colleges will be established starting from the 2024-25 academic session.
The Mukhyamantri Ayushman Bal Sambal Yojana was also launched to support children suffering from rare diseases, further strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Farmer Welfare
Rajasthan’s farmers have benefited from numerous initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods. The Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has provided an additional ₹2,000 to beneficiaries of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, benefiting over 65 lakh farmers. The government also launched nearly 9,000 PM Kisan Samriddhi Centers and implemented a mobile veterinary service to assist livestock farmers.
Additionally, the state has supported farmers with interest-free loans under the Rajasthan Cooperative Gopal Credit Card Loan Scheme, ensuring their economic stability.
Drinking Water and Irrigation Projects
The state has invested in several major water and irrigation projects to provide sustainable water solutions. Notable initiatives include the Revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project, which will provide drinking water to 21 districts and create new irrigation areas. Furthermore, the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan-2.0 was launched with an allocation of ₹11,200 crore to build 5 lakh water harvesting structures in 20,000 villages over the next four years.
The BJP-led government in Rajasthan has made commendable progress in its first year, with a clear focus on economic development, infrastructure, and welfare. The guidance and support of the central government, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have been pivotal in realizing the state’s growth vision. As Rajasthan continues on its path to becoming a key player in the national economy, the government’s achievements reflect its commitment to balanced development and inclusive growth.
