Manipal University Jaipur Concludes 13th Convocation

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary urges graduates to embrace lifelong learning and skill development; experts highlight the importance of human values in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) concluded its two-day 13th Convocation Ceremony, celebrating the academic achievements of 4,184 graduating students and awarding 62 gold medals across various disciplines. The ceremony brought together university leadership, distinguished academicians, graduating students and their families to mark an important milestone in the institution’s academic journey.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, addressed the graduating students through a special video message, while Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Advisor and former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), attended as the Guest of Honour.

The concluding day’s proceedings began with the ceremonial procession of the Academic Council and the Manipal Kulgeet. Chairperson Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh formally declared the ceremony open.

Focus on Lifelong Learning and Skill Development

In his address, Jayant Chaudhary congratulated the university on securing the 58th position in the NIRF University rankings and a 5-Star QS rating. He emphasised that formal education represents the beginning of a lifelong learning journey rather than its conclusion.

Encouraging graduates to continuously upgrade their knowledge and professional capabilities, the Minister highlighted the growing importance of reskilling and upskilling in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven employment landscape.

He urged the Class of 2026 to contribute meaningfully to India’s vision of becoming a developed nation under the Viksit Bharat initiative.

Chaudhary also appreciated the university’s achievements in sports, observing that sporting excellence develops discipline, teamwork, resilience and leadership. He underlined the emerging potential of sports as a sector offering opportunities for entrepreneurship, employment and economic growth.

Artificial Intelligence Must Complement Human Values

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Narayana Sabhahit spoke about the opportunities and challenges presented by Artificial Intelligence and its growing influence across professions.

He encouraged graduates to view AI as a collaborative tool capable of improving productivity, innovation and decision-making, rather than as a substitute for human intelligence and judgment.

Emphasising the importance of empathy, ethical responsibility, leadership and environmental awareness, he remarked, “AI can generate data, but it cannot generate destiny; true greatness is measured not by the intelligence of your tools, but by the integrity of your soul.”

He also highlighted Manipal’s international reputation and encouraged students to combine technological competence with strong human values to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

University Celebrates Academic Excellence

Earlier, Pro President Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Rana welcomed the dignitaries and paid tribute to Padma Shri Dr. T. M. A. Pai, founder of the Manipal Education and Manipal Group, acknowledging his contribution to building a lasting educational legacy.

Dr. Rana emphasised the close relationship between quality education, skill development and entrepreneurship in creating meaningful opportunities for India’s youth.

Presenting an overview of the university’s growth and achievements since its establishment in 2011, President Dr. N. N. Sharma congratulated the graduates and described a university degree as a lifelong asset.

He also encouraged students to recognise the sacrifices and contributions of their parents, teachers and mentors in shaping their academic and personal journeys.

During the two-day convocation, the university conferred 3,681 undergraduate degrees, 400 postgraduate degrees and 103 doctoral degrees.

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Architecture accounted for the largest number of graduates with 2,889 degrees, followed by the Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts with 837, the Faculty of Law with 236, and the Faculty of Health Sciences with 222.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Registrar Dr. Amit Soni, followed by the National Anthem.
