Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people to strengthen the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Movement. This campaign is under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga (tricolour) home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
In one of the tweets, the Prime Minister said, “This year, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, let us strengthen the Har Ghar Tiranga Movement. Hoist the Tricolour or display it in your homes between 13th and 15th August. This movement will deepen our connect with the national flag.”
These words of Modi have invoked patriotism in the hearts of Indians living abroad and they too will be hoisting the Indian national flag at their houses.
Rahis Bharti and his Dhoad band were invited by the Embassy of India in Budapest to celebrate 75th Independence Day on August 15. He performed with his band at Sziget festival which is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. Artists such as Justin Bieber, Stormae and other mega stars will also perform at Sziget Festival. It was an honour for the Dhoad Band to represent India at this biggest festival in Europe.
He said, “I am feeling very proud to represent India and perform on the 75th year of Independence Day for Indians in Budapest.”
Bharti is representing Rajasthan (India) for the last 22 years at the international level and has performed over 2500 concerts and shows in more than 110 countries. His work has been inspired by many artists as role models for the preservation and promotion of the unique and rich culture of India at the international level.
He said, “My band members and I hoisted the Tiranga at our houses also on August 15 to celebrate the 75th independence of our country.”
“Bharti in my name also makes me feel proud that I carry India in me across the globe and through my performances make people know about India’s culture, tradition, music and dances,” he added.
The Dhoad band founder said, “Happiness on the face of Indians settled abroad after the performance of Dhoad band also gives me a sense of satisfaction that my music and dances have made the Indians nostalgic. They felt like being in India during the show and that makes me happy.”
It is to be mentioned that Bharti is first among the Indian folk artists on whom legendary French author Martine le Coz wrote a book. She was inspired and impressed with the life and work of Bharti and decided to write a book on him. A 200-page book named Rahis Bhati-Dhoad Heartbeat of Rajasthan (LE COEUR BATTANT DU RAJASTHAN – Rahis Bharti et Dhoad) is written in French. This book was released by Prof Govind Prasad Sharma, Chairman of National Book Trust during the prestigious Paris Book Festival at the India Pavilion on April 23, 2022 in the presence of Ambassador of India to Republic of France.
Bharti’s Mission and vision is to popularise Rajasthani folk music and dance in the entire world and people across the globe come to know about India and colourful Rajasthan and to empower the artists and to get an objective view of how their own traditional cultural arts are being appreciated around the world. It is indeed his philosophy that these esteemed and talented artists should not remain unsung in the eyes of the world, a philosophy not retained by many today. He is conserving the folk music and dances by giving chances to hundreds of folk artists from Rajasthan so that they keep the dying folk music and dance alive.
