Jaipur Jewellery Show: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation

This year’s theme, ‘Tradition Meets Innovation…Ruby Redefined’, showcased a fusion of traditional designs and contemporary techniques with a special emphasis on rubies.

The second day of the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS), the nation’s premier B2B and B2C exhibition, witnessed an enthusiastic turnout at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre on Saturday. Renowned retailers from across the country, specially invited by the JJS committee, showcased immense interest in Jaipur’s hallmark jewellery styles, including Kundan-Meena, lightweight pieces, and coloured stone collections. International jewellers also participated, applauding Jaipur’s evolving jewellery market.

JJS Chairman Vimal Chand Surana highlighted that delegations from Russia and Thailand joined this year’s show, engaging with the organising committee to discuss strategies for promoting the gems and jewellery industry. The exhibition captivated locals and international tourists alike, offering a dazzling array of gems and jewellery. Visitors interacted with stall owners, gaining insights into the intricate art of jewellery making.

Celebrating Creativity at the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF)

Rajiv Jain, Honorary Secretary of JJS, revealed that the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF), a signature feature of JJS, is being hosted for the seventh consecutive year. This year’s theme, ‘Tradition Meets Innovation…Ruby Redefined’, showcased a fusion of traditional designs and contemporary techniques with a special emphasis on rubies.

Emerging designers and artisans from leading institutes are participating in JJDF, exhibiting their creations across a 500 sq. ft. area. The Artisans Pavilion has become a highlight, featuring stalls with traditional crafts such as Thewa Jewellery, Kundan-Meena, and gemstone carving. Live demonstrations offer visitors an up-close experience of these traditional art forms.

Nawal Agarwal from JJS added that ‘Uncut – Unfiltered Dialogues’, a series of informative sessions, provided valuable insights. The first session, ‘Unveiling the World of Rubies’, was led by Arjun Pansari from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), covering topics like ruby quality, certification, and synthetic variations.

Another engaging session, ‘Finding Your Way: A Candid Chat With Navrattan Kothari on Success and Staying True’, featured the Chairman of the KGK Group. Moderated by Rajiv Jain, the discussion delved into Kothari’s career journey, his family values, and the principles guiding his entrepreneurial success.

In a technology-focused session, designer Shikha Jain introduced Procreate, a digital illustration tool transforming jewellery design. She demonstrated how designers can use this app to experiment with intricate designs and colour schemes.

Focus on Ruby: Ethical and Innovative Approaches

JJS Spokesperson Ajay Kala noted that rubies are the central focus of this year’s show, with jewellery manufacturers presenting innovative designs and techniques. Gemfields, known for its ethical practices, partnered with the Ruby Promotion Group to promote rubies as symbols of integrity and luxury. Topics like ruby cutting, polishing, treatment, and certification were also explored to improve industry standards.

Pink Club: Enhancing B2B Opportunities

Mahavir Sharma from the JJS Organising Committee shared that the Pink Club, introduced in 2022, has become an essential B2B platform at JJS. Expanded in 2024, it features 98 pre-fabricated booths exclusively for business clients, providing a space for direct interactions. Amenities like a lounge, complimentary refreshments, and free Wi-Fi further enhance the networking experience.

The Jaipur Jewellery Show continues to uphold its legacy as a celebration of tradition, innovation, and global collaboration in the world of gems and jewellery.
