
A spirit of achievement and aspiration filled the air as The LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT) proudly hosted its 18th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 22nd March 2025. The event was graced by Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO and Secretary, Department of Space Technology (DST), who served as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring Convocation Address, Dr. Narayanan urged the graduates to embrace innovation and contribute meaningfully to the ever-evolving fields of science and technology.
The ceremony commenced with a formal introduction of the Chief Guest, followed by the presidential address delivered by Prabh Das, Chairman of the Governing Council. He addressed concerns about AI replacing humans, stating that while AI itself won’t replace individuals, those who embrace and utilize it effectively will progress, leaving behind those who do not. This was followed by the Annual Report presentation by Prof. Rahul Banerjee, Director of LNMIIT, who highlighted the institute’s unwavering commitment to fostering a dynamic environment for teaching, research, and academic excellence.
The Chief Guest, Dr. V. Narayanan, praised the institute’s 23-year journey, highlighting its role in education and technology. Quoting LNMIIT’s motto, he stressed that discipline is key to success and reflected on India’s post-independence strides in economy, technology, and education, surpassing colonial influences. He reminded students that education is a privilege and urged them to give back to society. Encouraging lifelong learning, he said graduation marks only the beginning, with vast knowledge still to explore. He emphasized imagination, self-confidence, and teamwork as essential for success. Concluding, he shared India’s vision to lead in space, launchers, and propulsion systems by 2040, urging graduates to contribute to making India a developed nation by its centenary.

A total of 538 students graduated in this momentous ceremony, marking a significant milestone in their academic journeys. Among them, 508 students received their degrees in the B.Tech. programme, while 15 students completed the B.Tech.-M.Tech. Integrated programme. The M.Tech. programme saw the graduation of 3 students, while 5 students earned their degrees in M.Sc. Additionally, 7 scholars were awarded their Ph.D. degrees, signifying their commendable contributions to research.
The convocation was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Prabh Das, the acting Chairman of the Governing Council, and Prof. Rahul Banerjee, Director of LNMIIT, along with the Deans, faculty, and staff members. Their presence underscored the significance of this academic occasion and reflected the institute’s dedication to excellence in education.
Recognizing exceptional academic performances, gold medals were awarded to meritorious students. The Chairman’s Gold Medal was presented to Vansh Mahajan from the Computer Science programme for his outstanding academic achievements. The Director’s Gold Medal was awarded to four students for their excellence in different categories. Stuti Sharma and Ayush Kumar received the prestigious honor for their performance in the Undergraduate (B.Tech.) programme. In the Postgraduate (M.Sc.) category, Pranay Raja Krishna was recognized for his academic distinction. Additionally, Yash Gupta from the ECE Department was honored with the Director’s Gold Medal for his exemplary performance in the Postgraduate (M.Tech./ B.Tech.-M.Tech. Integrated) programme.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pavan Kumar Paras, Registrar, marking the end of an event that celebrated perseverance, knowledge, and academic brilliance. LNMIIT continues to stand as a beacon of education, nurturing the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
