‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement urged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. The Prime Minister in one of his tweets mentioned that “This year, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, let us strengthen the Har Ghar Tiranga Movement. Hoist the Tricolour or display it in your homes between 13th and 15th August. This movement will deepen our connect with the national flag.”
People enthusiastically hoisted the national flag. Vivek Kumar, a shopkeeper said that with this campaign people openly displayed their patriotism. This will certainly instil patriotism, especially in the younger generation. Today, maximum people hesitate to throw any garbage in the open, it is due to Swachh Bharat Mission that people became aware to keep the surroundings clean. Similarly, this movement has to be celebrated every year, which will also make people get attracted towards indigenous items and will promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which is also a way to show patriotism.
Similarly, Karthik Sharma, a private employee said, “Quite excited about this movement I purchased a few national flags, which I distributed to my known motivating them to hoist the same at their houses and offices. I am very happy that people took part with enthusiasm and celebrated the 75th year of India’s independence.”
Atul Singh, a senior citizen said, “I doubt whether today’s children know the full national anthem. Earlier the national anthem was sung daily in the government and private schools, but now Independence Day has become a holiday. I think this three-day movement will at least make children learn the full national anthem.”
‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched to encourage people to bring the tricolour home and hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the spirit of Jan Bhagidari.
Various events involving people from all walks of life were also organized at various locations connected with the Freedom Struggle, to portray the patriotism and unity of the entire country.
The government on its Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav website had stated, “Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.”
People too felt this was true that relation with the flag has always been more formal, as only the VIPs used to hoist it. This initiative on the 75th independence of India has made people a little informal with the national flag. The pride and respect can be seen in their eyes while touching and feeling it.
